Tickle Me Pink Fashion Show 2011 -Unzipped- took place May 26th at the beautiful Spring Street Studios in Houston's amazing warehouse district. Sixteen student designers showcased their work for an audience of nearly 400 guests. Almost 100 models walked the runway in the beautiful designs with their hair styled by DNA Style Lab who generously donated their time to participate in the show. We had over 135 student volunteers who came from more than twenty schools in Texas and other southern states not to mention our incredible DJ, DJ Dan Rose flew in all the way from L.A. This year's co-producers, Ronit Joselvitz and Adair Reidy were absolutely amazing and without their hard work and dedication the show would not have been the same. This year, the fashion show honored two of Houston's leading women, Tysh Mefferd and Sarah Stewart Bernard. Tysh Mefferd, with Stella & Dot Jewelry, was honored for her amazing work in empowering women through Stella & Dot's Entrepreneurial program. This program allows young women in college to develop business skills and business relationships in the fashion world to help them through college. Sarah Stewart Bernard, with shopsarahstewart.com, was honored for her success in the fashion design industry for her beautiful line of scarves that have recently been picked up by Tootsies.
The reception to follow was catered by Stone Kitchen as well as Vietnam and Island Grill. The desserts were provided by Michael's Cookie Jar and Sessie's Sweets (a 3 year returning caterer to Tickle Me Pink Fashion Show). The guests were given special performances by our two student bands, MYTH, a student rap group from St. John's School, Matt McKinney, Henry Morris, and Daren Napier, and Outerheaven, consisting of Omar Ghaznavi (guitarist), Dylan Jamail (drummer), 20, and Cory Wilson (saxophonist), 21. The silent auction at the reception was overflowing with generous contributions from 18 businesses and individuals, such as Armando's, Michaelyndon, Pinot's Pallete, Haut Chocolate, Craft Salon, Lucky Strike, Joel Joselevitz, Joan Steinman and more! The production of the show would not have been possible without the amazing contributors including over thirty businesses and our generous underwriters including Holly and John Brennan, honoree Tysh Mefferd, Elizabeth Stone, Regina Rogers, Heidi Dugan, Sofia Ardogue and 24 more kind hearts. With everyone's support, Tickle Me Pink Fashion Show 2011 raised $14, 720 for Pink Ribbons Project bringing the show's total contribution since 2008 to Pink Ribbons Project to $40, 154!
